Nantucket Wedding – Claudia & Dylan Wallace
“It takes a village” Claudia said to me a few weeks before their wedding. She was telling me about all of their amazing friends who were coming together and adding personal touches to their upcoming wedding. While talking with Claudia I couldn’t help but think that this was truly what Nantucket and our community is all about… friends and family gathering together in a place they love to celebrate the marriage of two amazing people who share special ties to Nantucket. Claudia and Dylan both grew up here on Nantucket and they have been together since high school. They own ‘Nantucket Native’ a landscaping business and as store called ‘Ambrosia’ where they sell organic sea salts, spices, teas, chocolates and more. Their wedding was a beautiful tribute to the love they share and their love of family, friends and community. Claudia and Dylan were married on the beach at the end of Hinckley Lane by Claudia’s cousin Caroline Dean. The were graced with a perfect Nantucket spring day. After the beach ceremony everyone walked back to the The Westmoor Club for an evening of delicious local and organic food. This was a truly unique and magical springtime Nantucket wedding.
The people involved included their good friend Charlotte Hess of Isobel & Cleo made Claudia’s dress by hand. This gorgeous original wedding dress was made up of 250 Crochet motifs, 600 yards of thread, 1.5 kilos of sustainable silk from Australia, 10 yards of silk chiffon, 2 yards of silk georgette, 137 french seams and one invisible zipper. Betsey Johnson, another local Nantucketer did all the gorgeous flowers for the wedding. Dylan’s father, Peter Wallace, is the chef at The Westmoor Club but on this special day he was able to be fully present as American Seasons (also good friends of theirs) took care of all the delicious food. The food at the reception was all local and organic. The lamb, cheeses, eggs, and produce came from Faraway Farm, a farm that Dylan runs with their friends Caleb Cressman, Nicole DuPont and Andy Harris.Their friend Susan Warner collaborated with Simon Shurey of The Westmoor Club for all the organization of the event and it was a smooth day with wonderful energy. Their cake was made by Samantha Pichette who also works for Susan Warner. Later on in the evening Coq au Vin, Nantucket’s Gypsy Band provided all the festive and romantic music. The band members are also longtime friends some of which grew up together. As guests and family left they took home a little piece of heaven, handmade cookies baked by Cristal Chindamo of ‘Baked at Sea.’ She too is a friend and employee of Claudia and Dylans and she used many ingredients from Ambrosia, including hibiscus powder, rose petals and their oriental orange spice blend.
